Ok, my cellphone has been giving me problems for a little while now. I think I mentioned before that I had an "X" over the battery icon on my Treo. The result of that is I can't charge my phone unless the battery is completely drained. Subsequently, that has caused a more serious problem where I can't make calls out because for whatever the reason, the battery does not provide enough power to the radio (radio, as in CDMA, not FM or AM) for me to make calls out. The result: I got 14 messages over the last 2 days.
I also mentioned before that I tried to performed the K reset, which is AKA the battery disconnect reset. For whatever the reason, I cannot get it to work. As of yesterday, I had many urges to throw the phone out the window. But I held off and thought maybe I can physically disconnect the battery (Damn Treo 600 have the battery built in, like the iPod) and make it work that way. It was amazingly easy, just 4 screws and 2 rubber stoppers later, and I got my phone to work again. The "X" is no longer on the Treo. And I can finally checked my messages. Yeah, I couldn't even dial out to check my voicemail before. That was rediculous.
So back to the topic of the post, Sprint PCS has got to hire some better CS and better techs. I know I am pretty good at the hardware side of things but a simple battery disconnect is something that they should have figured out. Instead of BSing and say that the battery connector is bent is reason why I can't charge my phone. The techs in the 58th St & Lexingtion Ave store should be fired!!!
And through it all, I am still going to get the Treo 650 from Sprint. The reason being 2 things. One, they have the "New for You" plan that rebates you $150 if you had your phone for 18 months. Two, They still have pretty decent service compare to T-Mobile for my area. I am just going to be smart about it this time and make sure I buy the insurance for the 650 cuz I don't feel like buying a new phone before I am ready for an upgrade. I personally don't like Tro 650 too much because the processor, the hi res screen, and the bluetooth isn't worth the upgrade. I was hoping I can hold out til the next Treo or whatever out next gen PDA phone that I think is worth my money. But I haven't heard any cool phones coming out so the Treo 650 is a safe bet for now. Only 8 more days before I qualify for the "New for You" rebate. I can't wait!
